Hatheway Farms is on property once belonging to the historic Phelps-Hatheway House, the finest example of the 18th century architecture in the State of Connecticut. The house and its property were, at one point, a working farm comprised of 80+ acres that extended west to Remington Street. A 1910 article in The Hartford Courant described it as one of the "largest cultivated farms in the country." Currently encompassing less than 8 acres, the Phelps-Hatheway House is open to the public and can be visited at 55 South Main Street in the heart of Suffield's Historic District.
